Where do I begin with the Sunday Sessions on the #Riverbank #sundaysessionsriverbank?
At the beginning of course!
“What are the Sunday Sessions on the #Riverbank?”, I “hear” you say?
Gosh, I can feel HOW curious you too are about all things, especially food and wine events in Adelaide too!
The Adelaide Food and Wine Festival is coming to Adelaide in April.
It is always a HUGE Festival which attracts locals, foodies and people who appreciate wine from all over the world.
You will have to wait until the festival begins to learn more.
Feel free to learn more about the project, the campaign and pledges HERE.

Sunday Sessions on the #Riverbank has been created by the Adelaide Food and Wine Festival promoted as “A new adventure for your stomach’s pleasure!”
I have a confession today!
My name is Joanne aka Joanna aka mickeydownunder aka FANG and I wear many food and wine hats and have my fingers in many food and wine pies worldwide!
I had “the pleasure” of attending Sunday Sessions on the #Riverbank #sundaysessionsriverbank courtesy of Yelp Adelaide (where I wear the hat of an Elite Reviewer for 2014; a selector’s process) as well as courtesy of the Adelaide Food and Wine Festival; thank you Amanda!
Who, What, Where, When, How I was always taught in primary school to reveal an event and story!
WHO?
Adelaide Food and Wine Festival and thanks to Chloe the Adelaide Yelp Community Manager and a foundation Adelaide Food & Wine Fest committee member for organizing this Giant Bibimbap event in Adelaide made by Mapo Restaurant chef, Chung Jae Mao.
Sunday Sessions on the #Riverbank highlighted GIANT BIBIMBAP Korean Cuisine prepared and explained to our group by Mapo Restaurant Chef Chung Jae with an introduction by Amanda Jane Pritchard from Adelaide Food and Wine Festival as well as local wines from Ducks in A Row, Pewsey Vale Vineyard, Three Dark Horses, Hill-Smith Estates, Heggies Vineyard and Adelaide Hills Cider; thanks
Stilley from Yalumba; thanks Dan from Swell Brewing — quite an interested history how your “idea brewed!”
I had to laugh when I saw the VERY excited and PASSIONATE photographer that appeared in the photo of HER favorite Straight Up Mataro bottle; can YOU see?
Love the medium to full bodied fruit taste when combined with “licorice and dark chocolate flavours with inbuilt tannins.” BIG FAN!!!
Thanks Queen Lou (from Cambelltown Moonlight Markets 1 and 2 and Conversations over Chivito) for not only accompanying me on the day, but for being my “holder of all things wine and food” on the day!
“What is this Korean dish Bibimbap?”, I “hear” you ask?
It is the signature Korean dish that literally translates to “mixed rice.”
Photo Courtesy Adelaide Food and Wine Festival Facebook
It is served “as a bowl of warm rice with sauteed vegetables and chilli paste” called Gochujang aka hot sauce which is made from glutinous rice, fermented soybeans, red chilli and salt.
I LOVE all foods hot and spicy….YOU?
The ingredients are stirred together just before eating and can be served cold or hot.
Did you know Chef Chung Jae (with thanks to his assistants) made enough Bibimbap to serve 500 people?
A raw egg or meat are usual additions; today’s Sunday Sessions on the #Riverbank
#sundaysessionsriverbank Bibimbap was vegetarian and contained more than 40 eggs, 20 bundles of this, 20 bundles of that, 40 this and 40 that!
You did not think I would give away Chef Chung Jae’s recipe today, did you?
Chef Chung Jae has shared his “much smaller Bibimbap version reicpe” as well are heaps of other Korean recipes in his wonderful Korean Cookbook A twist on the traditional which can be purchased via Amazon or at his Mapo Restaurant.
Psst….here’s a secret from me today!
Chef Chung Jae has “graciously” allowed me to make one of his recipes from his Korean Cookbook A twist on the traditional and review; coming soon on What’s On The List!
WHERE?
Adelaide Blue Hive located at the rear of the Adelaide Convention Centre; through Elder Park at the rear of the Adelaide Festival Centre.
Photo Courtesy of Queen Lou; thank you!
