My name is Joanne aka Joanna aka mickeydownunder aka FANG and I have a confession!
As I made mention in #Homefresh Vegan, Vegetarian and Raw Food Lifestyle’s Dream, I am a “bigtime” carnivore (meat eater), but now enjoy days when I can experience Vegan, Vegetarian and Raw Food Lifestyle dishes.
Courtesy of Arbon Publishing, I got the wonderful chance to experience Veganissimo by Leigh Drew.
Leigh was recently featured in our local Adelaide Messenger; article by Dianne Mattsson.
This vegan cookbook with over 100 recipes looks “as tempting as any other cookbook” and if it can appeal to me as a carnivore, I highly recommend you check out Veganissimo.
The photos and recipes are “creatively innovative,” and “beautiful vegan food” is indeed “a unique cuisine.”
What I loved about Veganissimo is Leigh’s recipes are so “simple and easy” to follow and love her “hints and tips” provided with every recipe.
The photos are mouthwatering too!
For us carnivores, it was interesting reading the Building Blocks of Vegan Cuisine; made me feel welcomed into a new way to approach unique creations “based on vegan culinary principles and techniques.”
Veganissimo is broken down into:
Sublime Sauces, Marinades and Dressings:
Hands up, who would like to try Vegan Bacon Marinade?
Bewitching Baked Goods:
Gingered Cheesecake Bar Cookies (Slices) had my name on them right
away!
Wonderful Waffles, Pancakes and Crepes:
I LOVE waffles but couldn’t decided between the Buckwheat Galette and the Italian Farinate!

I do A LOT of entertaining and the Sundried Tapanade, Spinach Hummus and the Cashew Cheese with Roasted Garlic and Smoked Paprika really appealed to me!
Superb Sandwiches, Wraps and Burgers:
Emerald Green Felafel Wraps and Portobello Burgers with the Lot…doesn’t this simply make you day?
Splendid Salads, Soups and Side Dishes:
The photo of Arugula Salad with Cranberries, Butternut Squash and Orange caught my eye!

I hear Sizzling Polenta Gnochhi with sage is all the “beautiful vegan food” rage….Want to try?

I LOVED the Baingan Bharta (eggplant, fresh herbs and spices) and can’t WAIT to try the Tandoori Cauliflower Cheese and the Spicy Korean Silken Tofu Stew….TRUE!
and Divine Desserts:
I promised my friends I would make Sweet Cheese Borek with Rum-soaked Raisins and Chai Coconut Ice Cream WHEN the weather is warmer!
You can see, there is something for everyone (carnivores too) in every category!
A very helpful Measurement Conversion Chart is provided at the end
Veganissimo!
Other than the ease and simplicity of the Baingan Bharta, my kitchen smelled AMAZING with this simmering away!
Did you know Baingan Bharta (pronounced BHURR-taah) aka Baingan ka bhurtha aka Baingan da bhurtha (Mashed Eggplant) is part of the national cuisines of Pakistan and India?; every region has a “unique” recipe, just like Leigh’s Baingan Bharta in Veganissimo!
I do hope you are inspired to try “beautiful vegan food”.
Leigh was inspired to become vegan by “cooking with her vegan friends.”
There is so much to discover about vegan food that is “creativity fresh and innovative.”
I think it brings out the vegan in all of us with Leigh’s recipes.
I think Veganissimo “more than demonstrates” that vegan cuisine offers quite a variety of choice for everyone.
Did Veganissimo convert me from being a carnivore?
No, (and that was not the purpose of why this wonderful cookbook was created) but it genuinely did open my eyes to a whole new world of this “unique cuisine” of “beautiful vegan food” that I am glad I experienced Leigh’s recipes and will be incorporating them into my healthy food lifestyle and perhaps adding a “vegan food day” every now and then into my food routine !
Veganissimo can be “easily and conveniently” purchased online at Arbon Publishing.
I enjoyed Veganissimo tremendously and can hardly WAIT until Leigh’s next cookbook which I hope will be in the not too distant future.
The words, thoughts and opinions are my own and have not been “influenced” because Veganissimo came to me via Arbon Publishing as a courtesy!
